Santa Please...

I think I've been pretty good this year. If Santa (or anyone else) would like to know what I want for Christmas..here it is.

This. A State Necklace by Maya Brenner. With or without the diamond, I'm not picky.

I would love an upgrade from the iPhone 3g to an iPhone 4. We're not eligible for an upgrade yet though, so this will have to wait.

....sigh. Dreaming right?

Mostly I just want my family here. My parents will be coming out this year to see our new house and we're THRILLED! We're hoping that J's parents will be able to make it out here, along with my brother and his brand new fiance. (She's not new..but the fiance part is still pretty new!)

Santa dear, HURRY! I'm ready :)

I lied

Remember when I said pictures would be coming of the house? Well...I lied.

I'm headed out to pick up some Christmas decorations..because it has been that long since I posted. Then maybe I'll feel like updating this thing. We'll see!

I'm Back!

We're all moved into the house, pictures will be following as soon as we figure out where we stuck the charger. Aaaand maybe after a few more rooms are painted. Then I mean it..pictures are coming!

I saw a survey on someone elses blog, and thought I'd start it as a tag. Maybe this will give me something to write about until I get some pictures up here.

1. What inspired you to blog? What is your favorite blog? I had started to read a few blogs that I randomly stumbled upon, and decided I wanted to give it a shot too. I thought it would be a good way to start keeping my family updated on things that were going on with me out here...when I actually update! My favorite blog is...hmm. I really love this one by D.A.R. This girl rocks. Since I started running, I love hearing about her workouts. They keep me motivated with my own workouts, because I know she was new to running recently. I've been most inspired by her Army wife mentality. She is so strong, and keeps a pretty positive (yet, realistic) outlook on everything.

2. If there was a fire in your house and you only had time to grab four items (excluding your family!), what would they be? I always have such a hard time answering this question! My puppies would be first, but they're part of my family so I won't count those. I'd grab an armful of pictures (wedding pics, older family pics, etc) and a few of hubby's things. We don't have too many sentimental things yet, but we're working on it! Maybe in a few months this list will have grown.

3. If you could live somewhere else in the world, where would it be and why? England or Ireland. I think both are absolutely beautiful countries!

4. If money were no object, what would your dream house look like? I wish I could project the image in my head to the computer screen right now. I love houses with character, that look lived in, but are still classic and pretty.

5. Name something you wish you had more time for. Traveling. Actually, I think we have the time for it..just low on the funds for it! I guess I wish I had more time for fixing up our house and spending time with my husband.

I'm going to tag Niy over at Operation Yellow Daisy because she's one of my favorite people, and he has a super cute blog :)

Moving Day...

I spent all but two hours last night breaking down beds, unplugging tvs, and pushing all my furniture into the living room. Those two precious hours NOT spent moving things into the living room were reserved for sleep. The movers will be here in just under an hour and then we'll be heading here...

Home Sweet Home!

Bucket List

I started watching The Buried Life again tonight. I had missed a few episodes and decided to check them out on Hulu tonight, and I'm so thankful I did. That show absolutely inspires me! If you haven't seen it yet..you should check out an episode or two.

After hearing the guys on the show ask (quite a few times), "What do you want to do before you die?" I finally started thinking about it. I have a list of 36 things so far, all of which I hope to accomplish before I die. I'm going to start completing parts of the list as soon as I have the opportunity. Some are fairly easy, like #16: fly a kite, while others are a little more involved (#14 says, "live in another country").

I'll definately be blogging as I finish a few of them!

When Daddy's Away...

KC will push all of Mommy's buttons. As soon as I walked in the door from dropping him off she has been testing me.

When the weather is nice, we'll leave a door open so the dogs can go out to the backyard and play when they want. Well last night, I left a door open and KC decided to take 200+ notecards outside and scatter them across the backyard.

This isn't quite the whole pack, you should have seen it before I started cleaning it up. That black thing is a case of dominos. She was ripping the fabric off of that when I realized she was up to no good.

Where's the little princess now? Laying next to me chewing quietly on a bone. Thank goodness tonight is a good behavior night.

Deployment Day...Dum Dum Dum(b)

So...Hubby left today. I actually just got back from dropping him off. I'm keeping my mind on everything I have to get done while he's gone and maybe on another day I'll let myself mope around and whine about missing him. For now though...too much to do!

Before he left we started painting our bedroom furniture, that's going to be first on my list of tasks to complete around here. It will most likely be an ongoing project, with lots of other things coming up to interrupt it, but it will be done by the time he comes home. Maybe I'll get our kitchen table done too..maybe.

Here's a before an after of our tall dresser:

After:

I'm pretty pleased with the transformation! I'm also veeerrry excited to finish the other pieces and see how they all look together. Maybe I'll start saving for new bedding too, and make it a total room makeover by the time I'm finished. We'll see!

I'm off to run a few errands before I go to our house inspection..fingers crossed!

House Adventures

Hubby and I were driving down the street one day when we saw a sign similar to this one:

We decided to go check it out and while we didn't find anything we liked enough to take home with us, we fell in love with the house. We talked about it the whole way home, and decided to call the realtor. Unfortunately for us, the house had already sold. We decided to take a look at a few houses, and 10+ houses later we found one we wanted to make an offer on. We were beat out by another offer. Shoot. So we kept looking, then placed an offer on another house a few days later...which was accepted!

I am so excited to get in there and make it our home. We've been talking about paint colors, furniture placement, and summer cookouts in our backyard. We're beyond excited for our closing/move in day. We also understand that it's not 100% and something could still prevent us from getting the keys, so we're making these plans with crossed fingers and high hopes.

If we end up in this house, or another here are some of the things we're thinking about doing..

This is the bedroom from the oh-so-amazing John and Sherry at http://www.younghouselove.com/ . If you haven't checked out their blog yet, you need to head right over and take a look! I'll wait here. No really...go look. Those white curtains on either side of the bed are actually hiding wardrobes. I love everything about this room. We're going to use it as our guide when putting together our new bedroom, and I'm ecstatic! We're going to be refinishing the bedroom furniture we have now to save some money and give the room the look we want...before and after pictures WILL be posted!

I'll show you room progress and more inspiration pictures soon...promise!

Take 2...

I've had a blog before, but was barely keeping up with it. Eventually I decided to retire my sorry excuse for a blog, but I'm here to give it another shot.

This blog will likely cover a range of topics, from school, work, buying our first home, my husband's deployments...whatever else pops into my head. I'm hoping this stays interesting enough to keep a few readers around!

Now that the intro post is out of the way..I'm going to hit "publish post" and get to work on my first "real" entry...

See you soon!
